CEO & Founder @ Be-Mobile

Jan Cools was born in 1975. He graduated as a Civil Engineer in Computer Science at the University of Leuven and the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse. After obtaining an MBA at the Vlerick Management School, he became Sales Director at the Belgian vehicle telematics company Acunia.

In 2003 he founded “ITS Belgium” (www.its.be), the Belgian platform for the intelligent transport systems, the members of which are leading Belgian road authorities, research institutes and telematics companies collaborating on the roll-out of innovative ITS services.

In 2006 Jan started the smart mobility company Be-Mobile focusing on the monitoring of traffic jams using connected vehicles. Today Be-Mobile operates its connected car & traffic platform to offer solutions for smart city traffic management, traveler information services, electronic toll collecting, fleet management and mobile payment for parking & public transport.

During recent years, Be-Mobile acquired several other companies, including the popular Dutch speed trap app Flitsmeister, the leading parking payment application 4411 and the French traffic company Mediamobile. Since 2016 Be-Mobile has welcomed Belgian telecom operator Proximus as a new majority shareholder. Be-Mobile has its headquarters in Ghent and employs around 200 people.
