Mehmet Cahit TURHAN started working as an engineer at the General Directorate of highways in 1985. Since 1995 Mr. Turhan served as superintendent of Highway Maintenance Operations, Superintendent of Highway Construction, Assistant Regional Manager and Regional Manager within the Regional Directorate.
After serving as deputy director general of highways, Mr. Turhan was Director General of highways between 2005 and 2015, after retiring from this post, he served as Chief Presidential Advisor and then as a member of the Council of state.
Following his retirement from the Council of state, he was appointed CEO of the consortium that undertook the construction of the North Marmara motorway. Mr. Turhan continues to serve as the First Minister of Transport and infrastructure of the presidential system of government.
